Dogs Really do Rule

I'm a huge dog fan. Even those little lap dogs that Paris Hilton brought out of wood work a few years back have a spot somewhere in my heart. Growing up, my house was a preverbal dog pound - we had 3 dogs at one time in my youth - and every dog that entered my house was welcomed with open arms.
Nowadays, I still carry around this love for K9's, but sadly my current living situation does not allow me to care for one. It is probably a good thing, I live in a two bedroom condo with my wife and having the type of dog that I really want, would probably not be a fair environment for the pup.
I tend to prefer bigger breads of dogs over the smaller ones. There is something about golden retriever that says Americana to me. I have had two Labradors in my life and both dogs were tremendous companions. My wife, bless her heart, carries that same love of dogs as I do and, luckily, prefers for the most part the same breeds as I do - but she is allergic to dander, so I can pretty much kiss my thought of having a golden retriever g'bye.
Like I said I prefer big dogs, and the first chance I get, I'm getting the biggest dog that I know - a Great Dane. Ever since I read the Marmaduke comics growing up, I have loved these breads. They are huge and just a great addition to family with children. I have visions of my future children riding around the house with my Great Dane as their horsy...priceless picture perfect moments.
Another dog that I would want, preferably at the same time, is a Boston Terrier. These dogs, when they smile, remind me of the joker from Batman. They are just such cool dogs that I don't where to begin. They were originally breaded for fighting in, you guessed it, my hometown of Boston, Massachusetts and they had a huge spike in popularity during World War II. My father in law, as a matter of fact, has photos of himself as a young Navy man with a Boston Terrier of his own. Would be cool to see a Boston Terrier and a Great Dane live in harmony.
I have found a great show on the Animal Planet Network called Dogs 101 which describes all breads of dogs and gives a checklist of which dog would be best for which lifestyle. Being such an avid lover of dogs, I have tuned in to this show whenever I remember it’s on and take notes. My list of dogs may change as I continue to find out more about different breads, but my love for them will never cease.
